The Lawnswood Singers is a female-voice choir of around three dozen voices, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Our aim is to enjoy each other's company in making music together and to offer audiences entertainment for an afternoon or evening for private or charitable events, which in the latter case can provide the organisers with a means of fund-raising for a variety of worthwhile causes.

The choir was formed by a group of "old girls" from Lawnswood High School following a school reunion. 2008 saw us celebrating our 30th anniversary! We held a special anniversary concert at Shadwell Methodist Church, when we performed a range of music from our repertoire and welcomed back past members of the choir.

Over the years the choir has raised many thousands of pounds for various charities, with numerous concerts in Leeds and district, including such venues as Leeds Town Hall, Leeds Civic Hall, Leeds Civic Theatre, Temple Newsam House, Bolton Abbey Priory and Harewood House, and also further afield. The choir has broadcast on radio and television.

Our programmes are varied - hopefully something for everyone - and suitable for all seasons, including Christmas.  We offer a wide range of music, including spirituals, folk songs by English composers and light music.  Song groups are usually interspersed with humorous readings.
